Yuksum, the ancient capital of Sikkim, is known as the best starting point for trekking for trekking at high altitudes. The term “Yuksum” literally means “the meeting place of three Lamas.” Nearby, the crowning throne of stone for the first Chogyal (monarch) still evokes a sense of the presence of a royalty.Yuksum is also home to the Dubdi Monastery, the oldest monastery (300 years old) in West Sikkim. The sacred Kartok Lake and the beautiful ‘Phamrong’ waterfalls are other unmissable sights in West Sikkim.
